Nye Mountain is a summit in northern New York's Adirondack Park, part of the Street Range beside Street Mountain. Named for Adirondack guide William B. Nye, it stands within the watershed of the West Branch of the Ausable River, with runoff eventually reaching Lake Champlain, the Richelieu, the Saint Lawrence, and the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The mountain is especially notable for a long dispute over its height. Early surveying placed it above the threshold for inclusion among the Adirondack High Peaks, but later surveys measured it lower and even below another point on the ridge. Even so, it has remained on the traditional High Peaks list and in Adirondack peak-bagging culture.
