Mount Coe is a prominent mountain in Baxter State Park in Maine, northwest of Mount Katahdin between South Brother and Mount O-J-I, in the park’s rugged northern and western highlands. Ranked twenty-second among Maine’s peaks, it is part of the Penobscot River watershed, with drainage flowing east through the Klondike to Wassataquoik Stream and the East Branch, and northwest and southwest to Nesowdnehunk Stream and the West Branch. A well-known route, the Mount Coe Trail, starts at Slide Dam on Nesowdnehunk Stream and approaches by way of the mountain’s slide, ending with a steep, exposed climb up the upper half mile.
