Demoret Mound is a Native American archaeological site in southwestern Ohio, west of Ross, that likely dates to the Woodland period and reflects the region’s long mound-building tradition. Because it has never been excavated, it remains relatively little known but potentially very important. Comparable mounds suggest it may hold evidence of funerary practices and postholes from structures interpreted as houses or ceremonial buildings. As an undisturbed site, it could preserve information not documented elsewhere and deepen understanding of Woodland-period Native American life and ritual in Ohio. Its archaeological importance was formally recognized in 1975 with its listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
