French trader Sam Deon built this log house in 1858. Civil War veteran John Wesley Tharp purchased it in 1877. From 1877-1937, it was the home of Eliza Bingham Tharp Gardner. From 1937-1985, it was the property of Ethel Gardner Ames Holtz. It now belongs to Frances Ames Ver Straeten.
