Center Peak is a remote 12,760-foot summit in the northern Sierra Nevada of eastern Kings Canyon National Park, near the range crest between University Peak and Forester Pass. Rising sharply above Bubbs Creek, it has a strikingly steep profile and drains into the South Fork Kings River system. Sierra Club members Cornelius Beach Bradley and Robert M. Price named it in 1898 after Bradley’s first ascent, inspired by its position at the center of a great cirque. Its climbing legacy later expanded with the first ascent of the north face in 1934 and the Northwest Arête in 1983, a route regarded as a classic in the high Sierra.
