Doe Island Marine State Park occupies all of tiny Doe Island in Washington’s San Juan Islands, a boat-access park focused on simple marine recreation. The 6.11-acre island lies southeast of Orcas Island and has 2,049 feet of shoreline. Washington State Parks assembled the site in 1964 and 1967 through transfers from the Bureau of Land Management and the Department of Natural Resources. A rugged trail circles the island, and five first-come campsites provide basic amenities such as fire rings, picnic tables, and a vault toilet, but no potable water or electricity. Fishing, shellfish harvesting, birdwatching, and wildlife viewing add to its appeal, though community reports said the dock had been destroyed and not repaired.
