Mount Bonneville is a 12,590-foot peak in Wyoming’s Wind River Range, in the Bridger Wilderness of Bridger-Teton National Forest just west of the Continental Divide. Named for explorer Benjamin Bonneville, it is considered one of the range’s most distinctive and iconic mountains. Its setting is a rugged high-country landscape marked by steep terrain and fast-changing conditions. Travel in the surrounding area can be dangerous, with risks from bears, insects, wildfires, adverse snow, and nighttime cold. The range has also seen fatal accidents from falls on steep class 4 and 5 terrain and from falling rock.
