Raid Peak is a 12,537-foot mountain in Wyoming’s Wind River Range within the Bridger Wilderness of Bridger-Teton National Forest. Its fame rests on its dramatic east face, considered one of the range’s most striking cliff walls. Rising nearly 2,000 feet above an unnamed lake, with about 1,700 feet nearly sheer, this face offers a serious climbing route rated class 5.8 and Grade IV-V that often requires a full day or more. The mountain also reflects the broader hazards of the Wind River Range, where rapidly changing conditions, steep terrain, rockfall, snow, wildlife, wildfire, insects, and cold nights have contributed to fatal accidents over the years.
