Roberts Mountain is a 12,774-foot summit in Wyoming’s remote Wind River Range, east of the Continental Divide. It is the highest point on the Wind River Indian Reservation and the highest summit in the central range, as well as the state’s 55th-highest peak. The mountain is notable for its steep local relief, rising sharply above Roberts Lake and Lake Polaris within less than a mile. Its slopes drain into the Little Wind River. Set in an alpine subarctic climate with snowy winters and frequent summer storms, it was named for Reverend John Roberts, a missionary and the first principal of the reservation’s school.
