Throughout the years, Providence citizens were present in significant historical times and places where law, justice, and vital freedoms were at risk, and generations of its people provided individuals who sacrificed and contributed to maintain the sanctity of the Constitution of the United States of America. Among those killed in action during World War II were Carl R. Miller, John A. Bistline, Jr., and Leroy F. Larsen.
