Sugarbush Resort in Warren, Vermont, grew from its opening on December 25, 1958, into one of New England’s largest ski destinations, spanning more than 4,000 acres with two mountain areas, Lincoln Peak and Mount Ellen. A major milestone came in 1979, when the nearby Glen Ellen Ski Area was acquired and joined as Mount Ellen. Later owners expanded lifts, snowmaking, and infrastructure, while the Slide Brook Express linked the two mountains. Known for its large vertical drop, varied terrain, and rugged expert areas such as Castlerock and the Slide Brook woods, Sugarbush also developed into a four-season destination with recreation beyond skiing.
