Mount Abraham is a prominent Green Mountain summit in the Green Mountain National Forest, with its top in Lincoln and eastern slopes in Warren. Rising 4,006 feet, it is Addison County’s highest point, Vermont’s fifth-highest peak, and part of New England’s Hundred Highest and Vermont’s Presidential Range. Its naming history is layered: the area’s Lincoln place names honor Revolutionary War general Benjamin Lincoln, and the mountain itself was also known as Lincoln Mountain and Potato Hill before Mount Abraham became established by the early twentieth century. Known for its rare alpine tundra, wide views, and accessible trails, it remains a prized hiking destination; aircraft wreckage from a 1973 crash also remains on its north ridge.
