Tabernacle Dome
Nature
Tabernacle Dome is a 6,430-foot Navajo Sandstone summit in Zion National Park in southwestern Utah, standing at the southeastern end of Cave Valley about 10 miles northwest of Springdale. It rises near Cave Knoll and the Guardian Angel formations, and its runoff feeds tributaries of the Virgin River. Reached by Kolob Terrace Road, the peak was officially named in 1934 by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names for its resemblance to the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City. The surrounding area has a cold semi-arid climate, with low annual precipitation, light winter snowfall, and spring and fall as the most favorable seasons.
