North Guardian Angel is a 7,395-foot summit in Zion National Park in southwestern Utah, rising about 9.5 miles north-northwest of Springdale. Composed of white Navajo Sandstone, it stands in the park’s canyon country within a landscape shaped by erosion and runoff into North Creek, a tributary of the Virgin River. The mountain lies near South Guardian Angel, with the narrow canyon called the Subway between them. Its name was officially adopted in 1934 by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names. The surrounding area has a cold semi-arid climate, receives less than 10 inches of precipitation each year, and is generally most favorable to visit in spring and fall.
