Northgate Peaks are twin sandstone summits in Zion National Park, about 10 miles north-northwest of Springdale in southwestern Utah. The higher west peak stands 7,267 feet and the east peak 7,159 feet, rising beside a rugged passageway that inspired their name. Formed of white Navajo Sandstone, they display cross-bedded patterns like those on Checkerboard Mesa, and their runoff drains to North Creek in the Virgin River watershed. The nearby higher summit is North Guardian Angel to the south. Officially named in 1935, the peaks are now reached via the Wildcat Canyon Trail and Northgate Peaks Trail in a cold semi-arid landscape best hiked in spring and fall.
