Mount Hardisty is a 2,716-metre peak in Jasper National Park's Athabasca River valley, part of Alberta's Maligne Range and visible from the Icefields Parkway with nearby Mount Kerkeslin. Named in 1859 by James Hector for Richard Hardisty, chief factor at Rocky Mountain House and later Canada's first Métis senator, its name was officially adopted in 1912. The mountain is formed of Cambrian sedimentary rock later thrust eastward over younger layers during the Laramide orogeny, reflecting the forces that built much of the Canadian Rockies. It stands in a subarctic climate, and its runoff drains into the Athabasca River.
