Beatty Point is a 7,780-foot summit in the Kolob Canyons section of Zion National Park in southwestern Utah, rising among sandstone landforms between Paria Point and Nagunt Mesa above deep finger canyons. Its geology features Jurassic Navajo Sandstone over tilted Kayenta Formation, characteristic of the Colorado Plateau’s cliff-and-canyon landscape. Runoff from the summit flows into Timber Creek and Taylor Creek within the Virgin River watershed. The point is named for the Beatty family of Toquerville; Walter Lamb Beatty worked as a guide in Zion National Park for 20 years, connecting the place to the area’s early human history of travel and interpretation. It lies in a cold semi-arid climate with limited annual precipitation.
