Nagunt Mesa is a 7,785-foot summit in the Kolob Canyons section of Zion National Park in southwestern Utah. Though high enough to be a mountain summit, it has the broad, sheer-sided form of a mesa, enclosed by Jurassic Navajo sandstone walls that rise up to 1,400 feet. It stands among other prominent high points, with Timber Top Mountain nearby to the south and Paria Point and Tucupit Point to the north. Water from the mesa drains into Timber Creek within the Virgin River watershed, tying it to Zion’s larger canyon system. Its name comes from the Paiute word for bighorn sheep, preserving an Indigenous link to the landscape.
