Blackridge Wilderness is a protected area in southwestern Utah beside the Kolob Canyons section of Zion National Park and the Zion Wilderness. Covering 13,108 acres, it was established on March 30, 2009, by the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009. The wilderness preserves Black Ridge, a landform created by the Hurricane Fault, and a long reach of LaVerkin Creek, which continues to the Wild and Scenic Virgin River. Its terrain spans several ecological zones, from low desert to pinyon-juniper woodland and higher forests of ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, and aspen. This varied habitat supports mountain lion, mule deer, raptors, and other wildlife while adding to the larger protected landscape beside Zion.
