Bucktail State Park Natural Area is a seventy-five-mile linear park along Pennsylvania Route 120 between Emporium and Lock Haven, following the valleys of Sinnemahoning Creek and the West Branch Susquehanna River through Cameron and Clinton counties. Unlike most state parks, it is a scenic and wildlife-focused corridor rather than a single developed site. Its route follows the old Sinnemahoning Path, first used by Native Americans and later by pioneers traveling west. Formally designated in 1933, it was named for the Civil War Pennsylvania Bucktails Regiment, which left Driftwood in April 1861 on homemade rafts. Today it is especially known for elk and other river-valley wildlife.
