Hyner View State Park is a six-acre park in north-central Pennsylvania, high above the West Branch Susquehanna River and surrounded by Sproul State Forest. Though small, it is notable for a dramatic overlook with views for miles up and down the valley from about 1,940 feet above sea level. A stone wall built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression defines the lookout, and a hang gliding launch below it has made the site a well-known gliding spot. Improved road access in 1949 increased visitation, and the park later became home to Pennsylvania’s Fire Wardens Monument, dedicated to forest fire wardens who served from 1915 to 1965.
