Place de la Musique is a private museum in Barrington Hills, Illinois, on the estate of Jasper and Marian Sanfilippo, centered on antique music machines and other curated collections spread across several buildings. Its displays include phonographs, player pianos, organs, calliopes, and theater-related artifacts. Its best-known feature is a Wurlitzer theater organ built in 1927 for Omaha’s Riviera Theatre, later restored and enlarged into one of the world’s largest theater pipe organs. Other notable pieces include the rare Eden Palais salon carousel and the steam locomotive Victoria Jct. RR No. 18, one of only two surviving Grant engines. The estate’s collections now also serve charitable fundraising events through the Sanfilippo Foundation.
