Convent Mesa is a 5,955-foot sandstone butte in Professor Valley near Moab in eastern Utah, rising between Parriott Mesa and the Fisher Towers area with drainage toward the Colorado River. About 1,000 feet wide and 3,000 feet long, it is defined by roughly 400-foot vertical walls of Wingate Sandstone. Nearby formations such as Sister Superior, The Rectory, and Castleton Tower create a distinctive named skyline along the same ridge. The butte also holds a place in climbing history: Harvey Carter and Steve Miller made the first ascent in November 1965 via the Salvation Chimney route, and later climbers added several technical lines that made it part of the wider Moab climbing landscape.
