Fisher Towers is a dramatic cluster of sandstone spires near Moab in eastern Utah, rising from the edge of a mesa and appearing to slowly separate from it. Formed of Cutler sandstone capped with Moenkopi sandstone and stained with red mud, the formation consists of three long rock fins with several prominent named towers, including Titan Tower, Echo Tower, Cottontail, King Fisher, and Ancient Art. Named for a miner who lived nearby in the 1880s, the area has been important to climbers since the early 1960s and is also widely photographed. Its unusual red-streaked shapes have made it one of the region’s most distinctive and recognizable landscapes.
