The Titan is a 6,112-foot sandstone-and-mudstone pillar in the Fisher Towers of eastern Utah, northeast of Moab near Castle Valley. The largest tower in the group, it rises about 900 feet above its base and is widely noted for its sheer form, unusual geology, and deep red color from hematite. Built from Permian Cutler Formation rock and capped by Early Triassic Moenkopi Formation, it stands on Bureau of Land Management land, with runoff reaching Onion Creek and then the Colorado River. The Titan also holds an important place in American climbing history, beginning with its first ascent on May 13, 1962, and later classic routes that helped make it a landmark desert climb.
