Black Mountain is a prominent 10,865-foot summit in the Elkhead Mountains, part of the Rocky Mountains of North America, within Routt National Forest in northwestern Colorado. Lying about 20.9 miles north-northeast of Craig, it is the highest point in Moffat County. Its prominence reflects how strongly it rises above the surrounding terrain. The mountain has also been known historically as Welba Peak. It is chiefly significant for its commanding position in the Elkhead Mountains and as the county high point in this remote part of Colorado.
