Flint Covered Bridge in northern Tunbridge, Vermont, carries Bicknell Hill Road over the First Branch White River near Vermont Route 110 and the Chelsea town line. Built in 1845, it is the oldest of Tunbridge’s five surviving 19th-century covered bridges and part of a notable cluster of crossings along this river. The single-span Queenpost truss bridge has been strengthened with later structural supports while retaining its traditional board siding and gabled metal roof. A major 1969 renovation renewed its exterior to match the original appearance. Its place within one of Vermont’s densest groups of historic covered bridges gives it importance as both a local landmark and part of the state’s bridge-building heritage.
