Pigeon Lake Wilderness Area is a protected section of New York’s Adirondack Park and state forest preserve spanning the towns of Webb, Long Lake, and Inlet. Its low, rolling terrain includes West Mountain, numerous ponds and streams with brook trout, extensive swamplands along Sucker Brook and Beaver Brook, and forests ranging from mature hardwood-softwood mixes to spruce-balsam stands and pockets of old-growth white pine. Access is easiest from the south and southeast because surrounding private lands restrict entry from some sides. Anglers, campers, and hunters are drawn to trout waters such as Cascade Lake, Queer Lake, Constable Pond, Pigeon Lake, and Gull Lake, while Brown Tract Pond Campground supports non-motorized recreation.
