Iceberg Peak is a 9,149-foot mountain in Glacier National Park’s Lewis Range, standing on the Continental Divide above Iceberg Lake and near Mount Wilbur. Rising more than 3,000 feet above the lake, it is known as a difficult climb because of its steep slopes and exposed route. Its alpine environment is severe, with a subarctic climate marked by long snowy winters, short cool summers, and extreme cold with dangerous wind chills. The peak is composed of sedimentary rock deposited from the Precambrian through the Jurassic, and its dramatic form reflects the Lewis Overthrust, a massive uplift that pushed older rock over younger Cretaceous layers.
