Packwood Glacier
Nature
Packwood Glacier is in Washington’s Goat Rocks region, within the Goat Rocks Wilderness of Gifford Pinchot National Forest. It lies beside the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail near Old Snowy Mountain, with McCall Glacier nearby to the east. The glacier and the nearby town of Packwood both take their name from William Packwood. Set in a high volcanic landscape along a major long-distance trail, it is one of the ice features associated with the rugged crest around Old Snowy Mountain.
