Ice Mountain is a 13,958-foot summit in Colorado’s Sawatch Range, among the Collegiate Peaks of the Rocky Mountains. It rises within the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness about 17.1 miles west-northwest of Buena Vista, on the Continental Divide at the meeting point of San Isabel National Forest and Chaffee County with White River National Forest and Pitkin County. Its summit has an alpine subarctic climate marked by cold, snowy winters and cool to warm summers. Precipitation falls year-round at this elevation, coming as winter snow and summer thunderstorms, with a drier period in late spring.
