Doyle Road Covered Bridge in northeastern Ohio carries Doyle Road over Mill Creek north-northwest of Jefferson and remains one of Ashtabula County’s 16 drivable covered bridges, a distinction that helps define the county’s identity. Built in 1868 as a single-span Town truss, it reflects a lattice-style timber design widely used in 19th-century covered bridges. Renovated in 1987, it gained laminated arches while continuing to serve its road. Mill Creek was named for the Mills family, early pioneer settlers in the area. At 94 feet long, the bridge remains a preserved and still-functional example of the region’s 19th-century bridge building.
