Mount Crescent, a 3,251-foot summit in Randolph’s Crescent Range, is one of the prominent peaks of the White Mountains and the second-highest point in Randolph, just below Black Crescent Mountain. Both lie within Randolph’s Ice Gulch Town Forest. The mountain also reflects changing local place-names: an 1896 topographic map labeled this peak Randolph Mountain and applied the name Mount Crescent to Black Crescent. It also stands on a drainage divide, with water flowing on some sides to the Androscoggin River and Gulf of Maine, and on the northwest side to the Upper Ammonoosuc and Connecticut rivers toward Long Island Sound. Reached by trails from north or south, it is now chiefly a hiking destination.
