Edward Peak, also called The Mole, is a 7,280-foot granite summit in Washington’s Alpine Lakes Wilderness within the Stuart Range of the Cascades. Managed as part of Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, it is notable in climbing history for its first recorded ascent in May 1948, when Fred Beckey, Wesley Grande, and Ralph Widrig reached the top by the south face and named it The Mole. Later climbers established routes on multiple sides, including the West Face and East Corner, North Face, and Southwest Rib. Shaped by tectonic, volcanic, and repeated glacial forces, the peak is valued for technical granite climbing amid dramatic central Cascade scenery.
