The Temple is an 8,295-foot granite summit in Washington’s Alpine Lakes Wilderness, within the Enchantments and the Stuart Range of the Cascades. Rather than a single peak, it is a rugged complex of granite spires and towers centered on Mount Temple, with nearby formations including The High Priest, The Boxtop, Flake Tower, Comet Spire, Razorback Spire, and Black Pyramid. Its runoff drains to Snow Creek. The mountain’s striking form reflects the broader history of the region, where tectonic and volcanic forces built the North Cascades and later Pleistocene glaciers carved deep valleys, steep walls, and U-shaped terrain, while the Cascades’ climate helps shape its snowy winters and clearer summers.
