The Mariposa Grove contains five thousand giant sequoias, among the oldest and largest living things on Earth, and draws seven hundred fifty thousand visitors each year with a sense of awe, wonder, and serenity. Yosemite Conservancy and Yosemite National Park are working to restore the grove by restoring wetlands, natural soundscapes, and giant sequoia habitat, removing parking from sequoia habitat and relocating it to the South Entrance with free visitor shuttle service, converting most roads to walking trails where possible, and creating accessible trails in the lower grove area and at the Grizzly Giant.
