Mount Warren is a 3,362-metre peak in Jasper National Park at the southeast end of Maligne Lake, where its high icy mass forms a dramatic backdrop to views of Spirit Island and one of the basin’s defining landmarks. Its striking presence comes from its steep rise above the lakeshore, climbing about 1,690 metres in less than 4 kilometres. On the northwest edge of the Brazeau Icefield, it was named in 1908 by Mary Schäffer Warren for William “Billy” Warren, her friend, guide, and later husband. The mountain’s name was officially adopted in 1946, and its first recorded ascent came in 1928.
