Hune Covered Bridge, in eastern Washington County, Ohio, spans the Little Muskingum River near Dart. Built in 1879 by local bridge builder Rollin Meredith, it is a single-span Long-truss wooden bridge named for the prominent local Hune family. Its vertical siding, metal roof, and cut-stone abutments reflect its historic construction, but its greatest significance lies in the rarity of its complicated nineteenth-century Long truss design, of which few examples survive. Because of both its place in local history and its architectural importance, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
