Conanicut Island Light stands at the northern tip of Conanicut Island in Jamestown, Rhode Island. Built in 1886, it served chiefly to guide the ferry route between Jamestown and Newport and marked an important point in passage across Narragansett Bay. The light was deactivated in 1933, and its lantern was removed soon after. Sold by the government in 1934 as surplus property, the building later became a private residence. Though no longer used for navigation, it remains a recognized historic structure, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and later gained wider notice through its appearance in Wes Anderson's 2012 film Moonrise Kingdom.
