Boeing Field was acquired by the people of King County, State of Washington, to promote aeronautics and was named in honor of William Edward Boeing, whose intelligent, active, and long continued interest in all that concerns and advances the science of aeronautics merited and received public gratitude. It was dedicated on the 26th day of July, 1928. The Board of County Commissioners included J.M. Sparkman, WM. Brown, and Frank H. Pavl, and the Citizen’s Committee included Robert S. Boyns, W. L. Rhodes, Thomas D. Stimson, Nathan Eckstein, and Philip G. Johnson.
