Caine Road Covered Bridge in Pierpont Township, Ohio, spans the west branch of the Ashtabula River and remains one of Ashtabula County’s drivable covered bridges. Built in 1986 for the county’s 175th anniversary, it uses a single-span Pratt truss design associated with practical late covered-bridge engineering. The bridge is named for the Caine family, early settlers of the area. Thomas Caine and Margaret Quiggen Caine emigrated from the Isle of Mann to America around 1837, later settled in Pierpont, and became part of the community’s history. The bridge joins the county’s covered-bridge tradition with local family remembrance.
