Dungeon Peak is a summit in Washington’s Cascade Range, rising more than 5,640 feet in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Keechelus Lake. Above Gold Creek valley and Lake Lillian, its runoff reaches tributaries of the Yakima River. The peak stands within a rugged landscape of sharp ridges, granite walls, deep glacial valleys, and many lakes, with nearby Rampart Ridge as its nearest higher neighbor. Its form reflects long mountain-building, uplift, faulting, and repeated glaciation, including Pleistocene ice that carved the area’s U-shaped valleys. In a marine west coast climate, heavy precipitation, snowy winters, and clearer summers shape conditions in this protected mountain setting.
