Middleborough Historical Museum
History
1
Founded in 1961 in Middleborough, Massachusetts, this local history museum preserves and interprets the town’s past across a campus of seven buildings. Maintained by the Middleboro Historical Association, it is also known as the Tom Thumb Museum for its extensive collection of personal items linked to General Tom Thumb and his wife, Lavinia Warren. Because the couple lived in the nearby Tom Thumb House, the collection has a direct connection to the community while also giving the museum interest beyond the town itself. It stands as a center for both Middleborough’s general history and the story of one of its best-known residents.
