Built by Julius Converse from 1887 to 1889 as the office and bottling facility of the Mineral Springs Manufacturing Company Mill, the building was deeded in 1896 by its new owner, Mrs. Julia Johnson, to the Stafford Library Association. It served as the town library for more than 100 years until 2001, when it was leased to the Stafford Historical Society for use as a museum preserving and promoting Stafford's history.
