Quamash Prairie Natural Area is a 160-acre protected wet prairie in Oregon along the Tualatin River, managed by Oregon Metro and the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde as a camas prairie named for its dense Camassia quamash. Within the ancestral homelands of the Tualatin Kalapuya, it reflects a long Indigenous relationship with the land, including cultivation and harvesting of camas before western colonization and continuing cultural use today. Later converted to farmland and pasture, the area has been restored since 1996 through land acquisition, prescribed and cultural burns, and limited herbicide use. Its seasonally flooded habitats support many birds and one of only five known populations of tall western penstemon.
