Saska Peak is an 8,404-foot summit in Washington’s North Cascades, within the Glacier Peak Wilderness and Wenatchee National Forest. Among the Chelan Mountains, it ranks as the third-highest peak, and with nearby Emerald and Cardinal peaks it forms a ring around the head of the North Fork Entiat River valley. Its name honors Shil-how-Saskt, or Silico Saska, a chief of the Entiat people, and was bestowed by Albert Hale Sylvester, who named many Cascade features. The mountain rises from terrain shaped by tectonic uplift, faulting, volcanic activity, and Pleistocene glaciation, and it drains into the Entiat River basin.
