Memorial Plaza in Washington Memorial Park, this Freedom Shrine assembled historical documents in U.S. history in chronological order, ranging from the Mayflower Compact of 1620 through the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Paris, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Northwest Ordinance, major presidential addresses, the Gettysburg Address, the Emancipation Proclamation, the Thirteenth and Nineteenth Amendments, documents connected to Susan B. Anthony, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, General Eisenhower, Anthony C. McAuliffe, the surrender instruments ending World War II, John F. Kennedy's inaugural address, and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.
