Moose Peak Light is a lighthouse on Mistake Island off the Maine coast, east of Great Wass Island at the southern entrance to Eastern Bay and about five nautical miles southeast of Jonesport. Established in 1827, with the present lighthouse built in 1851, it long served an exposed stretch of coast and reflected the importance of this route for navigation along Maine’s eastern shore. Automation in 1972 ended on-site operation, and a January 2013 auction transferred the historic station to a private owner from Connecticut after nearly two centuries of use.
