Cirque Peak is a 12,900-foot summit on the Sierra Nevada crest in California near Lone Pine, on the boundary of Inyo and Tulare counties and between the John Muir and Golden Trout wilderness areas. Managed within Inyo National Forest, it is the highest point in the Golden Trout Wilderness and the 175th highest peak in California. Its steep rise above Cirque Lake makes its relief especially striking. Apparently named in 1890 by Joseph Nisbet LeConte and companions for the cirque on its north side, the mountain is also crossed on its southwest slope by the Pacific Crest Trail. Its waters drain west to the Kern River and east toward Owens Valley.
