Greycourt State Park in Methuen, Massachusetts, preserves a hilltop portion of the former Charles H. Tenney estate as a 24-acre public recreation area. The estate’s centerpiece, Grey Court or Tenney Castle, was built between 1890 and 1892 in a style modeled after the Château d'Yquem, giving it a castle-like appearance and making it a local landmark. After the mansion was destroyed by fire in 1978 and most ruins were removed in 1985, a small surviving section remained within the park. The site also includes the historic gatehouse, now home to the Methuen Historical Society, and continues to serve both public recreation and remembrance of the city’s Gilded Age past.
